ILLNESS
We have no facilities to keep sick children nor can we provide
transportation for them.
A child who has a sore throat, cold, nausea, diarrhea, chills, fever, skin
rash, inflamed eye, discharge from ear, enlarged glands, earache, flushed
face, paleness, should be kept at home and a doctor should be called.
If a child complains of illness in school, the school office will take the
child’s temperature. Parents will be called only if the child’s
temperature is 99.5 degrees or above, if there are other symptoms of
illness such as vomiting, convulsions, etc., or if parents state on the
emergency sheet that they want to be called even if the temperature is
below 99.5 degrees.
If the child shows signs of serious illness and the school cannot reach a
parent or any of the persons named on the Emergency Information Sheet, the
school will call the doctor named by the parents and/or the Paramedics.
A student who appears to have a contagious disease or condition such as
“pink eye”, chickenpox, ringworm, scabies, impetigo or head lice will be
sent home from school and must remain home until the condition is
corrected. (See ABSENCE) A doctor’s note is required for
re-admittance.
