COMMUNICATION
The Catholic school, while having an impact on the religious, social,
emotional, physical and mental development of the student, cannot replace
the vital role played by the parents. Thus, we seek to involve parents
more actively in the education of their children. As partners in
education, we will communicate through conferences, written reports, phone
calls, newsletters, bulletins and parent meetings which you will be
expected to attend at various times throughout the school year.
We ask parents to read all notes, newsletters, and bulletins, check your
children’s assignment notebooks, and discuss class work and homework with
your child daily. Parents are also asked to periodically communicate with
the school so that lines of communication between home and school are
open.
If a student is having difficulty in school or if there is some
misunderstanding, the procedure to follow is:
1. The parent(s) should make arrangements to confer with the teacher(s)
involved.
2. If after speaking with the teacher, the difficulty or misunderstanding
is
unresolved, parents should make an appointment to confer with the
Principal.
3. Parents should avoid making negative comments about a teacher, school
administrator, or any school personnel in front of a child (or within
listening distance). This will only undermine their authority and can lead
to discipline problems. If your child feels you do not support the teacher
or school, s/he will feel the same way.
